This week's show is devoted to an extended interview with Steve Reich ? the rebel who changed classical music forever.
This is the first time that the show has featured a contemporary classical composer, but Reich's influence on a number of Music Weekly favourites such as Radiohead, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Brian Eno, Sufjan Stevens and Battles is huge.
Now approaching his 75th birthday, Reich premiered a new piece in March this year called WTC 9/11 that marks the 10th anniversary of the terrorist attacks in New York. Subsequently, it was performed at the Future Everything festival in Manchester, which is where Ben Beaumont-Thomas spoke to him for this show.
