Asking celebs out on dates via YouTube appears to have become the latest internet "meme", but things don't always go according to plan for the hapless suitors.Inspired by the success of two fellow marines (male and female) in scoring dates with Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake, one plucky soldier invited Scarlett Johansson to attend the US Marine Corps Ball with him.
But unfortunately - and perhaps because she's got a new man in her life - the sex bomb actress politely declined Sergeant Dustin L Williams' offer.
Scarlett sent a case of bubbly to Sgt Williams in a bid to soften the blow, but somehow suspect he'll still be disappointed.
She said: "I feel incredibly honoured to have been invited to the Marine Corps Ball by Sgt. Dustin L Williams... unfortunately due to prior commitments I will not be able to attend the Ball with you this year but I am sending you a case of Moet & Chandon with gratitude."
