Beautiful Lies ? review

More enjoyable than their previous collaboration on Priceless, Pierre Salvadori's second film starring Audrey Tautou is a romantic comedy too flimsily plotted to qualify as a farce. She plays a beauty parlour owner in the attractive Mediterranean port of Ste, where for reasons not worth going into, a multilingual, Harvard-educated ex-Unesco official (played by Sami Bouajila, the handsome star of last year's Outside the Law) is working for her as an odd-job man, and an anonymous love letter he sends her is diverted to her troubled mother (Nathalie Baye). Baye is wholly delightful. Tautou is what the French call une emmerdeuse.
