But that's exactly where her father Ronald Fenty has found himself after selling stories about his offspring to the press.
Venting her anger in an interview with Vogue, 22-year-old Rihanna said it was "really strange" that her dad had sold stories and photos to the media for money.
She said: "You grow up with your father, you know him, you are part of him, for goodness sake! And then he does something so bizarre that I can't begin to wrap my mind around it.
"You hear these horror stories about people going behind people's backs and doing strange things, but you always think, 'Not my family. My father would never do that to me.'"
And Ri-Ri (real name Robyn Fenty) said she was particularly disappointed with her dad's reaction to Chris Brown's horrific assault on her.
She said: "My dad went to the press and just told them a bunch of lies, because he hadn't talked to me after... that whole thing.
"He never called to find out how I was doing, if I was alive, nothing. He just never called. He went straight to the press and got a cheque."
Doesn't sound like he'll be getting a Christmas card this year then.
At least she had a laugh last week when that saucy pic of Chris Brown got leaked.
What do you reckon? Is he a bad dad? Comment below if you wish...
