David Walliams sets off on charity swim

David Walliams is clearly a glutton for punishment but we've got to hand it to the man.

He's already swum the Channel and the Strait of Gibraltar AND joined a celebrity cycling relay from John O'Groats to Land's End.

Now the Little Britain comedian has set off on a 140-mile, eight-day swim down the River Thames.
Wading into the water at Gloucestershire, Walliams, whose mum and model wife Lara Stone waved him off, told the waiting press: "I can't really explain how I'm feeling at the moment, a mixture of both nervous and excited. I am just really keen to get going and get a few miles under my belt."

Hardly surprising really - during the marathon swim David, who is hoping to cover 21 miles each day, must endure the cold water, dangerous undertows, cramp, involuntary breathing spasms and river traffic.

Of course, it's all for charity but the funnyman is hoping for moral support along the way as well as donations to Sport Relief.

Best of luck David.

Even with a gruelling 140-mile swim ahead of him, David's smiling - sadly the same can't be said of these celebrity miseries...
