Today's Sun newspaper reports that Kenny has had enough of George's drug problems and brushes with the law and walked out on the singer.
An insider told the paper: "The writing has been on the wall for some time. There are only so many second chances Kenny was prepared to give.
"He's been loyal to George from day one, but that hasn't always been reciprocated."
The source claims that with Kenny busy running a gallery in his native America, time apart was also a factor in the break-up.
The talkative friend said he hoped it would be "the wake up call" George needs to get his life back on track.
However, it seems prison may have already provided the 47-year-old Wham star with that much-needed wake up call.
Speaking to Chris Evans on his Radio 2 Breakfast Show, George said of his recent drug driving conviction: "This was a hugely shameful thing to have done repeatedly so karmically I felt like I had a bill to pay.
"I went to prison, I paid my bill."
Let's hope George stays on the straight and narrow from now on.

Now we're all in favour of making an effort to look smart when you go out, but we can't help thinking that lil' Aston from JLS may have been trying just a teeny bit too hard on his birthday.
He showed up to his 23rd bash in this all-white get-up - complete with daft side-buckle belt and (out of shot, fortunately) glittery white shoes.
We're used to seeing Gaga in all sorts of crazy get-ups, but this condom-inspired latex outfit has to be up there with her all-time wackiest.
It was intended to promote safe sex among teens, but we suspect it may have done more to promote silly knob gags among journalists.
Perhaps you still haven't heard of British pop sensation Jessie J, but you can't have failed to SEE her.
The 22-year-old seems to be a graduate of the Lady Gaga school of getting noticed by wearing silly clothes - although somehow she ends up looking like she's in panto.

If the singing thing falls through, she could always turn pro at the gurning!

Here she is at the launch of her latest perfume, wearing clothes that appear to have been stitched-together from naff cushion covers.
We never thought the day would come when we saw a picture of KP modelling one of her garments and thought "wow, that looks cool"... but we honestly really like this tracksuit.
It might look like a sci-fi prison uniform, but definitely in a good way.
