A B-movie version of Melville's Moby-Dick, in which a black Captain Ahab (Danny Glover) with a feisty daughter pursues a white dragon instead of a white whale, might have worked in the hands of Roger Corman and John Sayles. This crude picture, shot in snow-covered Utah, where the Pequod becomes a battle engine on large wooden wheels, is unamusingly ridiculous. The redeeming moment is an exchange at a dragon hunter's tavern. Old timer: "Ishmael, isn't it?" Ishmael: "You can call me that."
