Sarah Ferguson has backtracked somewhat on comments she made about her "abusive" childhood. In an interview for her upcoming reality show, Fergie spilled the beans on her early years to TV's Dr Phil, and seemed to suggest that she had been left "emotionally bankrupt" by her mother's taunts.
Since then though, Sarah's sister Jane Ferguson has contradicted the claims.
Jane told the Daily Mail: "She's not lying, that's her experience, but my experience was that Mum was a wonderful woman and loved us both enormously and did the best she could."
And now Fergie herself has piped up to reveal that the whole thing was blown out of all proportion... by Dr Phil.
Speaking to Piers Morgan, the Duchess of York explained: "My mother always said when she was... going up to the sweet shop, 'Sarah comes from the postman', because I had a very tight red curls, big blue eyes and I didn't look anything like mum, and that's what I said to Dr Phil.
"She also said, 'She's got red hair and a temper and we're going to beat the devil out of her'. That's just mum and dad and the way they brought us up."
Fergie added: "It was just banter. That's what I said to Dr Phil and he said that's not alright and I said, 'Why isn't it alright?' It wasn't anything at all, but in America, it's a big problem for me."
Glad we've cleared that up.
Still, it probably won't have done the ratings for her reality show any harm.
