Having been through the tears and the anger, Cheryl Cole has reportedly reached the defiant stage of her post-X Factor trauma.According to friends, Chezza is confident she is "better off without" Simon Cowell and his global TV empire, and is looking forward to the future.
According to the News of the World, Cheryl told pals: "I'm actually really happy NOT to be on the show now. It was definitely the right decision for me.
"I was so badly mucked around by Simon and everyone involved. I don't want that in my life any more. I'm better off without it."
It seems her dealings with US TV executives have left Cheryl disillusioned and she is determined to be independent from now on.
And contrary to reports, Chezza never wanted to crack America anyway... so there.
She is rumoured to have said: "Nobody realises this but I never actually had this great dream to break the States. It was Simon who encouraged me to take the job there. If I never become famous in America then that's fine with me."
Don't be too quick to dismiss the American dream Cheryl... after all, there's always those movie roles to consider.
