Dannii announced she was quitting the show last week and speculation that she was unfairly ousted was all over the gossip columns.
In fact, Ms Minogue chose to leave (sort of) - she wrote on her blog: "I'm not furious, upset or livid. We simply couldn't make the dates work."
According to The Mirror, insiders say Dannii was tired of Simon Cowell messing about with the audition dates and a "third change of dates was the final straw".
And now Simon has been left messing about with the judges' panel... and ITV bosses are bricking it as a result.
Gary Barlow and Louis Walsh are already confirmed for the show but the other two spots are yet to be filled.
A source told The Mirror: "ITV wants things signed and sealed but Simon is still changing his mind and thinking of new names. The feeling is that without Cheryl and Dannii a big sexy female star is needed."
They could be right. Unfortunately the favourites are Tulisa and Kelly Rowland and that, as the insider pointed out, may well leave fans "disappointed".
Of course, the official word from ITV is that they are "very excited" about this year's show.
But unless they pull some big names out of the bag, they're probably in a minority.
