Rio Ferdinand's stalker on the run after harassment case

A woman found guilty of harassing footballer Rio Ferdinand yesterday fled the court before hearing the verdict.

Susanne Ibru, 38, who defended herself, stormed out of Macclesfield Magistrates' Court and the judge was forced to issue a warrant for her arrest.
Ferdinand said during the case that he had been "upset and disturbed" by Ibru who turned up at his family home asking to speak to the Manchester United star three times.

He told prosecutor Ian Davies that on one of those occasions he had asked her if she was a fan, to which she replied: "I am not a fan, I am more than that."

The father-of-three told the court: "I was alarmed. The safety of my family is huge to me, as it is for anyone."

Ibru herself grilled the footballer, insisting that she took the 200-mile trip from Peckham, South London, to Ferdinand's Cheshire home because she was "experiencing difficulties".

"I needed to speak to you about that. I just wanted to talk to you."

She also suggested that she had met Rio in Peckham in 1998 but he claimed to have no memory of the meeting.

As Ferdinand left the stand, Ibru said: "I'll see you soon. Bye."

Moments later she asked district judge Nicholas Sanders for an adjournment in order that she could hire a lawyer.

He refused, pointing out that she had already sacked two solicitors, and insisted the case continue.

Ibru declared: "Well, I won't be here," and subsequently walked out of the court.

Last night police were reportedly searching for Ibru after the judge declared her guilty of harassing Ferdinand.

Stalkers can be a bit of an occupational hazard for the celebs, but some of them take it a bit too far - as our gallery shows...

Lindsay Lohan was moved from the Betty Ford Clinic where she was undergoing rehab treatment after receiving a series of threatening messages.

The messages claimed that a strange person was watching her and her parents also received anonymous messages telling them to stay away from one another.

The FBI were even called in to investigate, although no culprit had been uncovered at the time of writing.

The wacky-dressing pop icon is reported to have had a spot of bother with a deranged Russian student who had become obsessed with her.

There were claims that Gaga took a restraining order out against the woman, who was living and studying in New York - but these were denied by her reps.

We know she likes to champion the underdog, but we hope for her sake she's not taking any chances with a woman who reportedly said she wanted to die with her idol.

Most celeb stalkers seem to follow their targets around, often sending unwanted gifts, flowers and letters.

But George Michael's worst stalker went much, MUCH further than this kind of Stalker 101 behaviour - hiding under the floorboards in his house for FOUR DAYS.

George said: ""I had no idea she was under there. I was talking to a friend and I could hear my name being called out. Then she suddenly presented herself."

And former Abba star Agnetha went several steps further than most victims, but actually having a relationship with her stalker and shacking up together for two years.

But it wasn't Stockholm syndrome (even though she did live near the Swedish capital), because at that point she didn't realise the man had deliberately moved into the home next to her in order to meet her.

Dutchman Gert van der Graaf's obsessive behaviour emerged after they split up, when he resorted to trying to break into her home.

Tennis star Anna was targeted by 40-year-old William Lepeska, who swam naked across a Florida bay in a bid to get into her property.

Fortunately for her, if not her neighbour, he ended up in the pool area of a property a few doors down and was hauled off by the cops.

The poor, deluded soul was heard calling "Anna! Save me!" as he was carted off - and later enjoyed a pepper spraying at the station when he got a bit lairy.

No, one didn't stalk the other - in fact they suffered from the attentions of the same rather disturbed stalker.

Diana Napolis reportedly believed that the director and his wife were part of a satanic cult who inserted "soul catchers" into people to control their actions.

She also believed Love Hewitt was trying to kill her via mind control.

As well as being put on a restraining order for at least 10 years, she was ordered to take her psychiatric medication - which sounds like an excellent idea to us.

X Factor winner Leona Lewis seems like a delightful young lady to us, and we don't know why anyone would want to cause her any distress.

Unfortunately she's had more bother than most celebs though, and was reported to have moved from her home in LA in 2009 because she was being stalked.

And then shortly after that she was punched in the face by a troubled young man at a book signing event back in London.

Fortunately she hasn't let it get to her and is still regularly spotted out and about in public.

In 1993 Monica Seles was the top female tennis player in the world - when she was stabbed by a man who ran onto court during a match in Hamburg.

It later emerged that her assailant, Gunter Parche, was a deranged Steffi Graf fan, and had been seeking to put his idol's biggest rival out of action.

His plan succeeded, because although poor Monica's physical injuries healed quickly, her mental scars meant that she did not return to competitive tennis for more than two years.

You might think that America's Next Top Model presenter Tyra Banks is nuttier than a box of Alpen, but she's got nothing on the man who terrifed her and her staff.

The former model was targeted by drifter Brady Green, who had travelled across the US by bus to turn up unannounced at the studio where she was filming.

She was barricaded into her dressing room by staff when Green tried to dash past security in a bid to see her.

But while Tyra's stalker may have meant the best, in a rather misguided way, the same cannot be said of kooky singer Bjork's stalker.

Back in 1996, Ricardo Lopez posted an acid-spraying bomb intended to kill her - which was fortunately intercepted by the police.

Lopez filmed himself making the device, explaining his actions on around 18 hours of videotape - which ended with him shaving his head, painting his face and taking his own life with a gun.
